Check care

Who prepares the medicine and ships it?

Ask for the pharmacy’s exact name before paying. If a separate facility makes the medicine, ask for its name too.

Where do I check a pharmacy serving Texas?

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy offers a free pharmacy search, including out-of-state pharmacies licensed for Texas.

Match the pharmacy’s name to the information the care service gives you. Keep the record with the proposed product name.

What if the pharmacy is in another state?

A pharmacy in another state normally needs a Texas licence to send you prescription medicine. The Texas pharmacy board can excuse a pharmacy from that rule if it sends medicine to Texas only in occasional, separate cases.

If the pharmacy says it does not need a Texas licence, ask the Texas pharmacy board to confirm that before you pay.

The ordinary out-of-state licence is called Class E, also described as a nonresident pharmacy licence.

As of September 26, 2026.

Texas · What Class E means

What if the pharmacy prepares injections?

Sterile means free of living germs. A pharmacy outside Texas that makes sterile medicines for Texas patients needs a Class E-S licence.

Inspection is required before that licence is issued and again within the renewal period; the board can use an approved inspector.

As of September 26, 2026.

Texas · Inspection before licensing

Ask the pharmacy to explain the licence covering the exact product. A licence check does not replace a medicine check.

Can a medicine label give a false pharmacy name?

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found labels with false information on pharmacy-made semaglutide and tirzepatide.

As of September 26, 2026.

FDA · False pharmacy information

Some labels used names of nonexistent pharmacies. Other labels named a real pharmacy, even though it had not produced that medicine.

Use the board record as well as the label, and ask the pharmacy to confirm that it supplied the medicine.
